چکیده

OLDSCHMIDT ( 1935) first demonstrated responses to temperature shock G when he showed that heat treatment of normal flies resulted in individuals whose phenotypes resembled those observed in known mutants including crossveinless (cv) . Such individuals were termed phenocopies. MILKMAN ( 1962,1964, 1966) and MOHLER (1965a) have demonstrated that some of the selected crossveinless-like (cvl) lines contain genes which show increased susceptibility to heat shock while others do not, and that heterozygotes from crosses of susceptible cvl lines with a wild type are also more sensitive to heat shock (MILKMAN 1961 j

Wing Vein Development in Crossveinless-like Strains of Drosophila Melanogaster.

HE analysis of adult phenotypic differences resulting from experimental or genetic modification of a developing system sometimes yields a useful description of the course of development in that system. Such a description may include, explicitly or not, the ontogenies of the ultimate character differences; therefore, it is desirable that the basic information should include the morphological fac...

The Genetic Basis of Natural Variation. v. Selection for Crossveinless Polygenes in New Wild Strains of Drosophila Melanogaster.

HE genetic basis of natural variation in posterior crossvein morphology in TDrosophila has been studied for over 30 years. As part of a program to catalog the various alleles in natural populations which influence this vein, the present work includes the analysis of F2’s of wild D. melanogaster pairs, the selection of crossveinless (cve) strains from them. the comparison of the strains inter se...

S I N C E WADDINGTON'S ( 1953) association of crossveinless phenocopy sensitivity and spontaneous crossvein defects, these two aspects of crossvein-making ability have often been studied together. I t is true that many crossveinless (cue) polygenes, so named because they contribute to spontaneous crossvein defects, do not enhance susceptibility to the induction of such defects by heat shock. The Influence of Some Crossveinless-like Genes on the Crossveinless Phenocopy Sensitivity in DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER.

is true for any character, a phenocopy is a product of genotype-environment Asinteractions. Phenocopy studies provide information, admittedly not on gene action at the primary level, but certainly on gene-controlled processes at derived levels. This paper is a genetical comparison of a crossveinless-like (cvl) strain with a wild-type strain primarily in terms of their responses to a heat shock ...

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)

Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
